This policy explains how Kitty Forums researches, writes and updates its content.
Independence
Our editors decide what to cover and what to recommend. Manufacturers and retailers do not review or approve our articles before publication, and we do not accept payment for coverage. Affiliate commissions (see our Affiliate Disclosure) do not change our recommendations.
Research and sources
We base our guides on veterinary organizations such as the AVMA, the American Association of Feline Practitioners and Cornell Feline Health Center, the ASPCA, and manufacturer product information. Where a claim matters for safety, health or a buying decision, we link to or name the source. When evidence is limited or mixed, we say so.
How we choose products
Buying guides and comparisons explain the selection criteria we used, such as features, specifications, compatibility, ease of cleaning or maintenance, safety information and published recalls. Specifications come from manufacturers and are checked against the product listing at the time of writing; they can change, so please confirm details before you buy.
We are clear about testing. Unless an article describes how we tested a product ourselves, our recommendations are based on research, published specifications and documentation, not hands-on testing. We never invent test results, star ratings, prices or customer reviews.
Use of AI tools
We may use AI tools to help with research summaries or first drafts. Every article is reviewed and edited by a person before publication, and that person is responsible for checking facts against sources.
Safety-sensitive topics
Nothing on this site is veterinary advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan. If your cat seems unwell, stops eating, has trouble urinating, or you are worried, contact your veterinarian. In an emergency, go to an emergency veterinary clinic or call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 (a fee may apply). Check product age and size guidance, and supervise play with strings, wand toys and small parts.
Corrections and updates
If we find an error, we correct it. We show an updated date only when an article has actually been revised. To report an error, please use our Contact page.
